Don't be fooled by Rauner props, tricks

Don't be fooled by Rauner props, tricks

When I was in high school and college I had a lot of fun participating in school plays, so you understand concepts like costume and props. As the years have gone by I have become accustomed to seeing politicians employ these concepts too, but I have never seen a campaign that has used them more than Bruce Rauner's

Actors and actresses use costumes and props to make themselves appear to be someone they are not, and politicians do it for the very same reason.

Whether you're talking about the $18 watch or the plaid shirt and work jacket, Mr. Rauner has used every tool at his disposal to take on the image of an everyday working man, something he most certainly is not. Mr. Rauner is probably the richest man ever to run for our governor. So why, you might ask, is he trying so hard to appear to be something he is not? After all, being rich is no sin.

The problem, as I see it, is how Mr. Rauner got rich. He got rich laying off guys who wear $18 watches and plaid work shirts. He got rich shipping their jobs overseas. Now he expects us to believe that as governor he will work to help the same working people he has been hurting for years.

Make believe is fun on the stage or a movie screen. It's dangerous in government. Don't let the props and the costumes fool you!

While Bruce Rauner was getting rich walking all over working people, Pat Quinn was working to protect us as a consumer advocate. He has done the same thing as our governor. Springfield is a mess and Pat Quinn has been cleaning it up while protecting public education and bringing good paying jobs to our state. Let him finish the job.
