Fall fashion show brings modern Milan to Barrington

The Barrington Junior Women's Club (BJWC) is bringing Milan's most prestigious shopping streets to the community of Barrington with its 2014 Fall Fashion Show theme, "Barrington In Milan." An official Fashion Week celebration will also begin on Saturday, Nov. 1, and culminate with the annual Fashion Show event on Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Stonegate Banquet and Conference Centre in Hoffman Estates.

The show's co-chairwomen, Hyla Guerriere, Rachel Kuna and Erin Shechtman are excited about several new elements that will be added to BJWC's largest fundraiser of the year, including:

• Barrington Fashion Week, Nov. 1-8, the week leading up to the big runway show will bring a true Fashion Week feel to the Barrington area, encouraging members of the community to "shop local" and support area businesses that mean so much to the community.

• Win a Makeover Raffle! When purchasing tickets online, attendees will also have an opportunity to purchase a raffle ticket for a chance to win a free makeover courtesy of Krave Salon, Barrington, and Luxe warehouse, Kildeer. The winner will receive hair styling and full makeup by Krave Salon the morning of the Fashion Show and a complimentary outfit to wear that day, and for keeps, courtesy of Luxe warehouse. The winner will be chosen at random and will be notified on Oct. 30. Proceeds from this $50 raffle will go directly to BJWC's charitable causes.

• This year, the show will allow attendees to be front and center of the all the action and sit right along the runway, with a few added benefits. Two tables will be set aside for full VIP service throughout the show which will include upgraded wine offerings, added cuisine, enhanced table service, front row views and a dedicated bid runner for the Reverse and Live auctions. The cost per ticket is $125 or $1,250 for a table of 10.

• Immediately following the show, attendees will have the opportunity to see, feel and purchase some of the fashion trends from the runway in a post-show shopping experience, combined with a special dessert, beverage and coffee cafe. In addition to these new elements, the fashion show will still deliver attendees favorites; fabulous preholiday shopping from area boutiques, a fashion show produced by Zazz Productions, the latest on-trend fashion from local retailers, and of course, charity, all set against the backdrop of modern Milan, one of the trendiest fashion capitals of the world.

The charity portion of the day includes silent and live auctions offering luxury items from York Furrier; a five-day, four-night all-inclusive Club Med getaway to Cancun, Punta Cana or Ixtapa; a chef-hosted dinner party for 10-12 with local organic chef, Cali Bergold; an impact jewelry raffle sponsored by Long & Co. Jewelers and much more. Other generous sponsors of the event include BMO Private Bank, K&M Printing and media partner, Living 60010.

Over the years, the BJWC Fashion Show and the group's other charity initiatives have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for local grants. These grants are allocated on an annual basis to over 20 local charities, including Barrington Youth and Family Services, Barrington Giving Day, Journey Care, WINGS, Meals on Wheels, scholarships for Barrington High School seniors and more.
