Singh good, but Morrison is better

My wife and I attended the Illinois House District 54 candidate for State Rep forum on Saturday the 11th of Oct presented by the League of Womens Voters.

We had a slight family emergency which resulted in us being a tad late and worried about the possibility of getting a seat. Imagine our surprise when we arrived to find less than 30 people in attendance! Such a disappointment that so few care about their representation.

We have lived in the district over 10 years and have been very satisfied with Tom Morrison's representation over the last four years, however, we are always interested when someone new elects to run for office to hear what their position is on important issues. Such was the case with Laddi Singh.

The LVW did a marvelous job in asking precise and pertinent questions of the two candidates. Tom Morrison answered every question directly with extensive knowledge of the issues and went on to explain why he voted the way he did on most of them. He mentioned he requested to be on the state pension committee due to its importance to our state.

Ms Singh answered the questions very sincerely but readily admitted her lack of knowledge on some issues, stating she would figure it out when she went down to Springfield, and answered many saying the two sides just need to get together and work things out to solve the state's problems.

We are very fortunate to have such an honest and knowledgeable candidate as Tom Morrison representing the 54th District. He saved taxpayers over $40,000 by running his district office under budget for four consecutive years and has opted out of receiving a pension.
