Ill-informed voters are nation's undoing

Some politicians are experts at spin and even bold lies because they are representing the top 1 percent rather than protecting the rights, interest and welfare of ordinary people, which is an essential function and duty of government at all levels.

Such bought politicians, who do the very opposite of what they were elected to do, end up exploiting and ripping off hard working Americans at virtually all income levels. Such politicians have no place in our representative democracy. They aggravate injustice and inequality and they undermine our economy and democracy, both of which are based on equality of opportunity and trust.

Voters have the responsibility to check out the records of incumbents and candidates by going to the bi-partisan website www.votesmart.org before casting their ballots. Ill-informed voters who have been misled by deceptive political ads have been the undoing of this great nation.
