Boomers sign manager Bennett to multiyear deal

The Schaumburg Boomers and manager Jamie Bennett have agreed to terms on a multiyear extension, team officials announced Thursday.

"It's hard to convince me that Jamie is not the best manager in all of independent baseball," Boomers president and general manager Andy Viano said in a statement released to the media. "Two championships in three years speaks for itself, but when you combine that with the first-class manner in which he represents our organization, and the types of high-quality ballplayers he brings in to our baseball operation, that's a very rare combination. We are fortunate to have Jamie lead our club and I very much look forward to seeing the great things the future holds."

Bennett owns a career 174-114 record and a 12-2 record in the playoffs. He led his teams to back-to-back championships in 2013 and 2014 and was named 2013 Frontier League Manager of the Year.

Terms of the new deal were not disclosed.

This past season, the Boomers tied for the league's best record (61-35) and also set a new league mark for home wins in compiling a mark of 40-11 at Boomers Stadium in Schaumburg.

"I am excited to continue to help build what has been started here in Schaumburg," Bennett said, "and I am blessed to have been surrounded by such outstanding coaches, players, fans, front office and ownership."
