Chicago man sentenced to 100 years for 2007 rape
A Chicago man has been sentenced to 100 years in prison after DNA in another case linked him to a 2007 rape.
The Cook County State's Attorney's office said Wednesday that 35-year-old Adalberto Anaya was sentenced on Oct. 14 by Circuit Judge Stanley Sacks.
Prosecutors say the 26-year-old victim was walking to work in December 2007 when Anaya grabbed her from behind and forced her into a nearby gangway at knifepoint.
They say he assaulted her multiple times before forcing her behind a secluded building and assaulted her again under a stairwell. He then stole her belongings.
The case went unsolved until Anaya was convicted in 2012 for aggravated battery. His DNA was entered into a statewide database, resulting in a match with the assailant in the 2007 rape.
