Crystal Lake teen identified as Lakewood crash victim

The woman who died Saturday in a fiery rollover crash in Lakewood has been identified as a 19-year-old Crystal Lake woman.

Jacquelyn Paulson, 19, of Crystal Lake was killed around 4 p.m. Saturday when Paulson's vehicle collided head on with another vehicle at the intersection of routes 47 and 176, then flipped over, police said.

Bystanders pulled the teen driver from the wreckage and began performing CPR, Woodstock Fire Capt. Brendan Parker said. Before firefighters arrived about 4 p.m., the good Samaritans also tried to extinguish a small fire that ignited after the car flipped over.

Paulson was taken in critical condition to Centegra Hospital - Woodstock, where she was later pronounced dead.

Two passengers in the second vehicle were taken to Centegra in stable condition with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, Parker said.

McHenry County Coroner Anne Majewski announced Sunday morning that an autopsy is scheduled for today to determine the cause and manner of Paulson's death.

The McHenry County Sheriff's Accident Investigation Unit and the Lakewood Police Department also are investigating the crash,
