Hundreds walk in Elgin to help prevent hunger

More than 200 walkers took to the Elgin Riverwalk Promenade on a crisp autumn afternoon Sunday, hoping to raise $24,000 for this year's Elgin CROP Hunger Walk.

Since 1983, Elgin area faith communities and civic organizations have come together in a local CROP Hunger Walk effort to bring awareness to the problems of poverty and hunger locally and globally. During that time, Elgin CROP Walkers have raised more than $500,000 in support of the sustainable projects of Church World Service and area soup kettles and food pantries.
