Fire does $15,000 damage to Hoffman Ests. home
A fire about noon Friday in Hoffman Estates did about $15,000 damage, officials said.
The fire was near a wall heater in a one-story, single-family home in the 500 block of Kingman Lane and was starting to spread to the attic area as firefighters arrived, officials said in a news release.
The occupant was home prior to the fire and was waiting outside upon arrival of the first fire engine. There were no injuries reported. The cause is being investigated. The home was not equipped with a residential sprinkler system and smoke detectors were found without batteries, according to the news release.
The Hoffman Estates Fire Department responded with 27 people. Aid was provided at the scene by the Streamwood and Schaumburg. Fire units from Elgin and Elk Grove Village also assisted by providing station coverage.
