Winberie's closing after nearly 30 years in Buffalo Grove

Winberie's Restaurant & Bar - a Buffalo Grove fixture for nearly 30 years - will close its doors at the end of the month, but its owners plan to open a new eatery at the same location.

Cleveland-based parent company, Select Restaurants Inc., announced Winberie's, offering classic specialties like chicken Marsala and lamb osso buco, will close after serving brunch on Sunday, Oct. 26.

"We want to thank all of the guests who've dined with us for almost three decades at Winberie's and the staff that's made it such a special place to so many people," company spokesman Todd Sheppard said in a post to the restaurant's website.

"After a lot of research, Select Restaurants plans to unveil its newest restaurant that will bring Buffalo Grove area diners the exciting and unique place they are seeking for dining and socializing."

The new restaurant is scheduled to open in mid 2015 at 800 W. Lake-Cook Road.

Gift cards can be redeemed at the Winberie's in Oak Park and Parkers' Restaurant & Bar in Downers Grove.
