Streamwood father wins $1.3 million lottery prize

A Streamwood father has won a $1.3 million Illinois Lottery prize - the largest of its kind to date.

Mrugesh Desai plans to pay off his house and save for his children, with one in college and the other headed there.

"God gave me this money as a gift," he said.

Lottery officials on Thursday handed Desai a ceremonial check for the big win - the largest Lucky Day jackpot - at a BP gas station on Irving Park Road in Streamwood, where he paid for the winning ticket.

"I felt that I would win the Lucky Day Lotto one day," he said. "And I did it, so I feel good."
