Huntley man found with $42,730 in drugs, police say

The McHenry County sheriff's office said Tuesday a Huntley man who had about $42,730 worth of narcotics at his residence and in the car he was driving was arrested Oct. 8.

After getting multiple tips that 20-year-old Troy Grimes was selling cannabis in southern McHenry County, the McHenry County sheriff's office Intelligence Led Policing Unit and the Illinois State Police North Central Narcotics Task Force conducted an investigation.

Grimes was stopped by authorities near the intersection of Rainsford Drive and Jamestown Road in Huntley while driving a 2002 Honda Civic, according to a news release.

Through a search of the car, authorities said they found about 225 grams of high-grade cannabis, 33 methylphenidate pills and packaging materials.

At Grimes's Huntley residence, authorities said police also found about 4,086 grams of high-grade cannabis, 140 cartridges of high concentrated THC oil, 5 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, 24 morphine sulfate pills, scales, drug paraphernalia, packaging material and $36,830.

The sheriff's office said Grimes is charged with unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, unlawful possession of cannabis, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
