Military only part of Duckworth's credits
Lately there have been several letters in papers suggesting that Rep. Tammy Duckworth is an empty suit and that her excellent military service is all she has going for her.
Rep. Duckworth has given an exceptional effort to whatever challenges she faces in military or civilian life.
At one meeting she smiled broadly as she explained how she was working with Republican Darrell Issa of California on bipartisan legislation to reduce waste in military spending. Darrell Issa is not usually an easy person to work with, but Tammy is never easily dissuaded. In fact, I think she fits into the category of being indefatigable once she has set her mind on a goa.
Tammy is also frugal with her contributors' funds as well as congressional spending; plus she likes to clip coupons to help with her personal shopping.
Rep. Duckworth, as I understand it, has a master's degree in international affairs and is working on a doctoral degree in public health and human services. Does this sound like someone who only has a distinguished military career?
Aside from his website, I couldn't find out much about her opponent. But I do know Tammy is a solid, honorable, hardworking representative of our 8th Congressional District, and I still shudder at the antics of the 2010-2012 Republican barroom bloviator (Mr. Walsh) representing our district on the TV nightly news a few years ago.
