South Elgin runs with the law for Special Olympics

The South Elgin Police Department sponsored Run With the Law Saturday - an event to support the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Illinois.

The community event was designed to increase funds and awareness for Special Olympics in partnership with area schools.

This was the second year for the event. It was promoted by police Detective Jim Creighton, who is the police liaison at South Elgin High School; he encouraged students and staff members, as well as fellow officers, to participate in the fundraiser.

Participants collected donations to run with law enforcement members, who led the group on the runs carrying the Flame of Hope.

Runners received "I Run With the Law" T-shirts.
