ALDI opens next week in Huntley

Low-price grocery chain ALDI is opening a new store in Huntley, and marking the occasion with a grand opening on Thursday, Oct. 16.

The new store is at 12300 Princeton Drive. ALDI operates almost 1,300 stores in 32 states.

"We are pleased to bring our first store to Huntley to help customers get high-quality products at everyday low prices," said Scott Patton, Batavia division vice president for ALDI. "We challenge shoppers to switch from national brands to our high-quality exclusive brands and save up to 50 percent without compromising. As important as price is, the only way to attract and keep shoppers is to have quality products."

A ribbon-cutting ceremony is at 8:45 a.m. It includes samples of ALDI brands and tours of the new store. Additionally, guests can enter an on-site sweepstakes for a chance to win ALDI gift certificates.

ALDI officials say they reduce overhead costs through such practices as a cart rental system, smaller store footprint, open carton displays and encouragement of customers to bring their own shopping bags.

The Huntley store will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday. ALDI accepts cash, debit and EBT cards.

The Huntley store features high ceilings and environmentally friendly building materials, such as recycled materials and energy-saving refrigeration and light bulbs.
