Man extricated from SUV after landing upside down in Buffalo Grove backyard

A man had to extricated from his SUV Thursday morning after it jumped a curb, hit a tree, and landed upside down in the backyard of a Buffalo Grove home, authorities said.

The 60-year-old driver was traveling westbound on Deerfield Road near Route 83 when the crash occurred about 6:45 a.m., said Buffalo Grove police Sgt. Mike Rodriguez.

The car ended up in the backyard of a home on nearby Brandywyn Court, he said.

The road was closed to traffic between Route 83 and Buffalo Grove Road until 10 a.m., while authorities cleared the scene and conducted their investigation.

The driver was taken to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights with undisclosed injuries.

The Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team was assisting Buffalo Grove police in the investigation.
