20-year-old Elgin man sent to hospital with multiple gunshot wounds

A 20-year-old Elgin man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries Tuesday night after he was shot, police said.

Elgin police and fire officials responded at about 10 p.m. to the area of Sherman Avenue and St. Charles Street for a report of a shooting.

Officers arrived and found the man lying in a yard suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was taken to Presence St. Joseph Hospital.

Elgin gang unit detectives responded to the scene and are conducting an investigation. Anyone with any information can call the Gang Investigation Division at (847) 289-2646.
