Streamwood firefighters mark truck's arrival with tradition

It's not engine trouble, it's tradition.

Streamwood firefighters will physically push the department's newest fire truck into the headquarters station at 6 p.m. Thursday, a time-honored tradition to bring trucks into service.

The short ceremony dates back to a time of horse-drawn equipment, when the animals struggled to back the apparatus into stations.

The event will be held at Fire Station 33, 1095 East Schaumburg Road.

For more information, contact the department at (630) 736-3650.
