Elgin man dies from injuries after shooting

A 20-year-old Elgin man has died of his injuries after being shot Tuesday night, police said.
Elgin police and fire officials found Alberto Prado lying in a yard with apparent gunshot wounds about 10 p.m. near Sherman Avenue and St. Charles Street. Prado was taken to Presence St. Joseph Hospital and was later pronounced dead, police said.
Elgin police's gang unit detectives are investigating the shooting. Anyone with any information can call the Gang Investigation Division at (847) 289-2646.
