No injuries in Schaumburg townhouse fire

A Schaumburg townhouse caught fire Wednesday afternoon, but firefighters were able to keep it contained to one unit and an attic, fire officials said.

The fire was first reported at 2:30 p.m. in the second story of a four-unit townhouse in the 100 block of Century Court, Schaumburg Fire Captain Mark Nelson said.

The fire was extending into the attic by the time firefighters arrived, and crews were able to contain the bulk of the damage to just one unit, Nelson said.

"The firefighters did a terrific job of stopping it and preventing it from spreading into any other units in the building," Nelson said.

Nobody was injured in the blaze, which caused $100,000 in damages. The fire remains under investigation.
