Bicyclist seriously hurt after hit by car in Elgin

A 21-year-old Elgin man was sent to the hospital with life-threatening injuries Tuesday after getting hit by a car while riding his bike, Elgin police said.
The accident occurred Tuesday evening around 9 p.m. when the bicyclist was crossing Summit Street in the area of Hill Street. The bicyclist was taken to Presence St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin.
Elgin police are calling the case an accident and say it's under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call (847) 289-2661.
