Denying the very basis of law, justice
Religious confusion reigns in the ideology of homosexual activism. The Catholic Church, for example, does not simply prohibit homosexuals from marrying each other because they are sinners. Rather, the issue concerns the definition of marriage and its purpose, among others.
The purpose of marriage is the protection of children. Nature (or, if you prefer) Darwin has determined that this is best accomplished with caregivers who are both genetically related to the child. That means a biological father and a biological mother who have a "parental investment" in the welfare of the child.
In terms of sociobiology, parental investment promotes the reproductive fitness not only of the parents but also of their relatives, because such fitness promotes the movement of their genes into future generations. Of course, neither Christianity nor the law uses such language. But, the concepts are embedded in the institution of marriage.
Because the law also has an interest in the welfare of children, it has defined it in terms consistent with the biological facts. In marriage, heterosexuals produce something of great value to society - children. In contrast, a homosexual union produces nothing of value to society. Therefore, the law has no rational reason to recognize homosexual unions. It has, rather, a duty to suppress relationships which undermine the institution of marriage.
Granting legal status to a homosexual union is an act of absurdity. It is illogical and defies reason. That is to say, it defies the very basis of law, morality and justice.
