Three people charged in Waukegan convenience store robbery

A Waukegan man and two juveniles have been charged with robbing a convenience store on the 800 block of Glen Rock Road earlier this week.

Jonathan Denicolas, 19, of the 2800 block of Glen Flora Avenue, is charged with two counts of theft, armed robbery with a firearm, and aggravated robbery for his role in the Sept 28 robbery.

He is being held in Lake County jail on $250,000 bail.

Lt. Cory Kelly of the Waukegan Police Department said officers were called to the store at 7:30 p.m. Sunday for three people who entered the convenience store, one holding a hand gun.

The men ordered the employee to give them money, liquor and cigars, Kelly said. One of the suspects fired the gun when leaving the store, but no one was injured, Kelly said.

One of the two unidentified juveniles has been charged with firing the gun during the robbery, Kelly said.

Both juveniles have been taken to the Robert W. Depke Juvenile Justice Complex near Vernon Hills where charges are pending.

The handgun and the items stolen were recovered by police.

Denicolas is scheduled to appear in court on October 6.
