Costume shop offers workshop on latest Halloween makeup

Creative makeup applications have become the newest way to look amazing at Halloween, and with popularity of shows like "Faceoff" which features the process of creating unique makeup, it has become even more desired.

The makeup artists at All Dressed Up Costumes in Batavia will be offering four workshops to teach those who want to give special effects makeup a try on their own. Each of the makeup workshops will be offered at no charge for those who register at least five days prior to the classes, and makeup will be available for sale for those who want to join in hands on in the workshop.

"Finishing off a costume with a professional looking makeup can really make your Halloween look stand out," states Laura Dwyer, makeup artist at All Dressed Up. "It is especially fun for the children going trick or treating, and offers a very safe alternative to masks. Kids love face-painting. Creatively adding makeup artist's tricks will ramp that up a notch."

Saturday, Oct. 11, will feature the Horror and Gore with GORE at 11:30 a.m. In this workshop participants will learn to use liquid latex to create burns, cuts, scars and bullet holes; and to use makeup to create the bruising and blood to accent the latex creation. At 1:30 p.m. the Zombie workshop will commence. Again, participants will learn to use liquid latex to create the effect of dead skin, and makeup applications to gray scale faces, with shadows and highlights creating sunken facial features, and tips on how to customize a zombie look with bugs and other fun applications.

Each workshops is offered free to the public if reservations are made at least five days in advance. A $100 fee will be charged for later registration and at the door. All makeup and supplies needed to join in hands on will be available for sale prior to the workshops. If you own your own makeup kit, you are welcome to bring that to the workshops as well.

To reserve a spot for a workshop, call All Dressed Up Costumes at (630) 879-5130 or register online at alldressedupcostumes.com.

For those who want a completed makeup for Halloween, but would prefer to have the work done by a professional, makeup appointments are currently being taken for the weekends during and around Halloween. Whether a zombie, or full facial prosthetic, the makeup specialist at All Dressed Up can make that happen for you.

All Dressed Up Costumes is a theatrical rental warehouse, serving theatres year round, and is in the historic Campana Building at 901 N. Batavia Ave.
