Carmel claims ESCC North

Natalie Linquist carded an eagle, and Carmel Catholic's girls golf team soared to another East Suburban Catholic Conference victory.

By shooting a 163, the Corsairs defeated Nazareth Academy (202) and wrapped up the ESCC North Division at the par-37 Brae Loch Golf Course in Grayslake on Wednesday. Carmel (9-1) finished 4-0 in the ESCC North and will defend its conference championship when the North and South divisions meet Monday at Village Green in Woodridge.

Juniors Kayla Ryan (38) and Eva Savovich (39) both had season lows and are "starting to peak at the right time of the season," Corsairs coach Jill Franz said. Junior Alexa Amato (43) and the sophomore Linquist (43) both played well too. Linquist chipped in for eagle on the par-4 ninth hole.

"The girls are playing very good solid golf and as a team, which is even more encouraging heading into tournament play the next few weeks," Franz said.

Grayslake d. Johnsburg: At Brae Loch, Kim Balling shot a 45, and Grayslake's co-op team won for the second day in a row on its home course, edging the Skyhawks 193-199.

Kara Ahlemeyer added a 47 for Grayslake, which also counted Ireland Dunne's 49 and Dhani McDowell's 52.
