Kiwanis Peanut Days in Des Plaines Friday and Saturday

Volunteers with the Kiwanis Club of Des Plaines will again be on the streets for the club's annual Peanut Days fundraiser Friday and Saturday.

Club members will be accepting donations at key intersections, with all funds returning in full to the community, officials said.

In the past, the club's efforts have focused on providing shoes and boots to needy children, giving scholarships to high school students, serving breakfast for babies at the Salvation Army, and supplying a "birthday in a bag" to kindergarten students.

The Des Plaines club was chartered in 1939.
