Contest could help you spruce up your living space

The air is getting crisper, the nights shorter and the time spent indoors longer.

Hey, whose job was it to freshen up the decor so you could cozy up for long, comfortable winter indoors?

If no one stepped up to the plate for that task, you're a perfect candidate to enter the Daily Herald's Room for Living contest. We are taking entries through Oct. 10 for a chance to win a room makeover package valued at more than $5,000.

Last year, through the help of contest sponsors, three families won room makeover packages, including Kelsey Burck and Sharon Brown, both of Palatine, and Nancy Rinker of Grayslake.

How do you get in on the bonanza? Easy. Go to www.dailyherald.com/contest/roomforliving and enter with your name and contact information and a paragraph telling the contest judges why you should win. Then, upload a photo of the room in question and sit back and wait.

While you're waiting, the Home and Garden section will feature makeover suggestions by our contest sponsors on select contest entries for five weeks. And, we'll let you know how to spruce up your space with some great tips from our experts.

Finalists will be published weekly from Oct. 19 through Nov. 16.
