Woodridge police investigating attempted child luring

Woodridge police are investigating an attempted child abduction that occurred Monday afternoon at a Downers Grove North High School bus stop.

According to police, a white man attempted to lure a 14-year-old girl into his vehicle near the bus stop at the corner of Audubon and Janeswood Avenue in Woodridge about 4 p.m.

The girl ran away and immediately reported the attempt to authorities. There have been on other similar reports in the area, police said.

The man was described as being heavy set, in his late 30s or early 40s, with pale skin, a shaved or bald head and no facial hair. He was last seen wearing a red short-sleeved T-shirt and a backward black baseball hat.

The man's vehicle is described as a rundown, older model four-door sedan, possibly a Honda. The rear windows were tinted, and there was rust on the lower portion of the vehicle. The license plate may contain the number 9.

Woodridge police are asking for the public's help in locating the man and the vehicle. Please call detectives at (630) 719-4732 with any information on either.

The public is also urged to call 911 to report any suspicious activity seen firsthand.
