Point fingers at Republicans, too

You recently printed a letter from Randy Rossi of Grayslake concerning the Burger King merger with Tim Hortons, and it made so much sense until he threw in the last sentence about electing pro-job Republicans by throwing out the Democrats.

I have to ask Mr. Rossi, what country has he been living in these last 10 years?

We've had all Democratic legislatures, we've had all Republican legislatures, i.e. the first six years of Bush's administration; we've had mixed legislatures, in the last 30 years. These were the people who passed the present laws governing the movement of jobs and money and loopholes overseas and offshore.

For him to suggest it's the Democrats alone who have caused the problem defies all logic. Everyone who knows any history at all knows that Republicans have always been pro-business. If these laws have been passed, they had to have the blessings of the Republican legislatures, or they would not only have been passed by them in the first place, or they would have immediately been repealed upon control of Congress and the presidency, as it was under Bush, (which they weren't).

This is not a new phenomenon that just occurred in the last five years. They've been sending jobs overseas and putting money offshore for many, many years. Just blaming the Democrats isn't going to get the job done. Rather, Mr. Rossi, whose ear does the lobbyist have easy access to? That's the question you should be asking, and the guy you should vote against - no matter what party he represents. Otherwise the status quo will reign forever.
