Barrington hosts Lyme disease awareness walk

Walkers from Illinois and neighboring states will gather Sunday, Sept. 21, in Barrington for the sixth annual walk to build awareness of Lyme disease.

The 2.5-mile walk begins at the Jewel Tea Pavilion in Citizens Park, 511 Lake Zurich Road. Registration is at 10 a.m. with the walk beginning at 11 a.m. The pavilion provides a large indoor space to ensure the event takes place rain or shine.

Live music, a variety of raffle prizes, food and children's activities are part of the event. Cost is $30 per adult and $100 per family. All proceeds will be directed to the local nonprofit The Lyme Support Network to support education, awareness and prevention of Lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses.

Registration is available online or at Citizens Park on Sunday morning. Visit www.lymesupportnetwork.org for more information.
