U.S. keeps rolling in Davis Cup matches at Sears Centre

American John Isner won the final nine games and beat Slovakia's Lukas Lacko 6-3, 6-0 Sunday on the final day of the Davis Cup World Group playoff at Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates.

The U.S. had already won the first three matches to clinch the series, assuring a spot in the 2015 World Group.

Isner's 43-minute victory put the Americans ahead 4-0 in the best-five playoff. The U.S. won all 11 sets in the first four matches.

Sam Querrey plays Norbert Gombos in the final match.

Isner defeated Gombos, and Querrey beat Martin Klizan in singles Friday. The Bryan brothers ensured the victory with a lopsided doubles triumph Saturday over Gombos and Lacko.

Lacko, ranked 86th, replaced Slovakia's No. 1 Klizan for Sunday's first match. Isner, ranked 16th, broke serve for a 5-3 lead, held at love to win the first set and dominated the second. He broke serve four times in the match.

Sunday's matches were shortened to best-of-3 since the series was decided.
