Boys golf / Lake County roundup

For the second time in three days, Grayslake Central's boys golf team pulled out a close decision.

Kyle Reynolds and Josh Schneider each fired a 42, and the Rams carded a 172 for a three-stroke win over Cary-Grove at Stonewall Orchard Golf Club on Thursday. Michael Murdy and Tommy Triggs added a 43 and 45, respectively, for Grayslake Central.

On Tuesday at Stonewall Orchard, the Rams' 167 bettered Huntley by one shot. Reynolds had a 40, while the winners also counted Cooper Brunk's 41 and 43s by freshman Michael Sisk and Triggs.

Mundelein d. Zion-Benton: At Steeple Chase, Ryan Magee fired a 1-under-par 35 for the host Mustangs (153), who won the North Suburban Lake match by 29 strokes.

John Lentz (38) and Jeff Lee (39) also broke 40 for Mundelein. Brett Parola and Zach Zentz carded matching 41s for the Mustangs.

Lake Forest d. Warren: At Bittersweet, Jack Garrity and Quinn Gaughan each shot a 37, as the visiting Scouts (156) downed the Blue Devils (169) in North Suburban Lake action.

Jack Hansen's 39 paced Warren.

Lakes d. Grant: At Fox Lake Country Club, the North Suburban Prairie match went to the Eagles (187), who also boasted the medalist thanks to Mike Barry's 40.

Michael Maye shot a 51 for Grant (213).
