Singer tells her story through Broadway hits in St. Charles

"Dawn of a New Day (A Cabaret)" will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Sept. 12 and 13, at Vero Voce Theater, 951 State Ave., Ste. F, St. Charles.

Dawn Harkins, singer/actress/wife/mother, with accompanist Richard Trost takes you on a musical tour through the milestones of her adult life. Her very personal story is told through the music of Broadway greats Stephen Sondheim, Leonard Bernstein, Scanlan and Tesori, Maltby and Shire, Schmidt and Jones, Rodgers and Hart and Kander and Ebb.

Join her for a sometimes funny, sometimes emotional, always human evening of Broadway standards and novelty songs. Reservations are recommended.

This performance is presented in conjunction with St. Charles Arts Council's Charlie's Center for the Arts Event.

Harkins has performed internationally to audiences in Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Japan, China, and France. She has produced two solo albums, "Dawn of a New Day!," born of her original cabaret, first performed at Davenports Cabaret in Chicago and "This Is Romance," featuring great songs of the 1930s. Her album, "Dawn of a New Day!," was featured along with an interview on KPOV FM radio's "Curtain Call" with DJ Patty Davis. She is a graduate of the International Cabaret Conference at Yale University.

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at verovoce.com or by calling (630) 584-0139.
