Fox Lake deaths were suicides, police say

Two people found dead in a Fox Lake apartment were victims of self-inflicted gun shot wounds, officials said Wednesday.

George Filenko, chief of the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force, said autopsy results paired with findings from the scene indicate the two people died individually of suicide. He would not comment further on the case.

The bodies of the man and woman, both believed to be in their 20s, were discovered about 11 a.m. Tuesday in an apartment on the 300 block of Devlin Road, authorities said.

The autopsy was done Wednesday morning and the results were released about 1 p.m., Filenko said.

Police were called to the apartment by one of the victim's co-workers who were concerned after the man didn't show up for work, Filenko said.

Police believe the man and woman lived together in the apartment.
