Mosquito spraying resumes Monday in Elk Grove

Spraying to combat an increase in mosquito activity is expected to resume in Elk Grove Village beginning Monday, village officials said.

The Northwest Mosquito Abatement District officials are aware that mosquito activity has rapidly increased as a result of the large recent volume of rainfall that the area has experienced, according to an announcement on the village's website.

The announcement says nighttime spraying for nuisance mosquitoes is scheduled based on trapped mosquito surveillance, weather and wind guidelines. "While nighttime spraying for adult mosquitoes has benefits, under the proper conditions, overall it is a limited and temporary tool."
