Fire damages Allied Die Casting in McHenry

A fire broke out Wednesday morning in an office area of Allied Die Casting in McHenry, fire officials said.

The blaze started at about 8:20 a.m. in the one-story manufacturing facility at 3923 W. West Ave., McHenry Township Fire Protection District officials said in a release.

Firefighters found smoke throughout the building at the ceiling level coming from a fire in a void space above a drop ceiling in an office.

The fire was quickly extinguished and remains under investigation. Nobody was injured. Borden Street and West Avenue were closed for approximately 40 minutes during the fire.
