Mikaelian, Libertyville prevail

At the 15-team, Lake County girls golf invitational at Bonnie Brook Golf Course in Waukegan on Monday, Libertyville took first place with a 341.

Carmel and Stevenson finished third and fifth respectively with a 370 and 371.

Simonne Mikaelian of Libertyville was the overall medalist with a 77 while teammate Megan Sturonas finished fifth with an 83.

Kari Lee of Vernon Hills was ninth with an 85.

Boys soccer

At the Vernon Hills tournament, Grayslake Central rolled over St. Pat's, 8-1. Johnny Madrid and Isaac Longenecker each had 2 goals and 2 assists for the Rams.

Antioch 8, Crystal Lake Central 0: Danny Brito had 3 goals and an assist and Logan Bouker had 2 goals and an assist as the Sequoits picked up the shutout. Iven Hernandez added a goal and 2 assists and Thomas Furlong had 3 assists. Dan Miller and Alex Ruano shared the shutout in goal.

Girls volleyball

Lakes d. Waukegan: Lakes rolled to a 25-6, 25-10 sweep of Waukegan in nonconference action. Megan Behrendt and Izzy Huntington led the way with 3 kills apiece while Maddie Demo had 8 assists. Lisa Buehler finished with a team-high 8 digs for the Eagles.

Carmel d. Warren: Carmel got off to a fast start and kept going to a 25-16, 25-13 victory. Grace Butler and Grace Schofield paced the Corsairs with 7 kills apiece while Morgan Meade finished with 5 kills to go along with her 15 assists. Butler added 10 assists and Schofield had a team-high 4 aces. Sierra Kepski led Carmel in digs with 13.
