Hoffman Estates man charged with burglary

A 19-year-old Hoffman Estates man has been charged with felony residential burglary after a chase by a village resident. Sergio D. Bridges of the 500 block of Harvard Lane was arrested around 11:41 p.m. Aug. 16 at Kensington Lane and Abbey Wood Drive after an officer who heard a radioed description of the man who had been chased.

The pursuer was in his garage on the 1900 block of Georgetown Lane watching a movie on his TV playing off his iPad, left for a few minutes and returned to find Bridges in the garage holding the iPad, police reports said. The man fled and the victim chased him but could not catch him.

The victim did find a wallet on the ground, which was traced to a vehicle burglary around 11:30 p.m. that same night of a 2002 Jeep Liberty on the 1800 block of Jamestown Circle. Police woke the owner, who wasn't yet aware of the theft. Bridges was also wanted by Cook County Sheriff's Police on an arrest warrant, police reports said.
