Respect is vital to America's success

Bravo to Mr. Gene Maril of Arlington Heights. His Aug. 4 letter ("President's critics unfairly labeled racist") was right on the mark. So much hypocrisy these days. Instead of disagreeing respectfully and working together for best interests of our great nation, childish, unfounded accusations fly about.

The Marine who served our country in the Middle East sits in Mexican jail for months. (Maybe it's foolish to have "guns" near/in Mexico, but maybe it was foolish mistake, hopefully.) Is President Obama working to get him back home, or planning fundraisers and vacations?

I prayed for President Obama to succeed and make America an even better nation with good relations among our fellow citizens. Instead, there appears to be more disrespect of and disappointment in government. It does not matter what color people are, or their religion. We must respect each other and be grateful for our blessings.
