What is Dense Breast Tissue?

Did you know that breast tissue can differ from person to person? And those differences may hide abnormalities and create the need for additional screenings to ensure your breast health, experts say.

Good Shepherd Hospital is also offering a free community health lecture on breast density on Tuesday, August 19 from 6:30-8p.m. at the Garlands of Barrington.

Learn how supplementary screenings with MRI and ultrasound can help detect breast cancer where some mammograms may not. Kevin Kirshenbaum, MD, a board certified diagnostic radiologist, and Lisa Derken, MD, a board certified family physician, will discuss the importance in understanding your options and how new laws with breast sonography can benefit women with dense breasts.
