Miami man charged with DUI after crashing into Schaumburg home

A Miami man is facing drunk driving charges after crashing his Mercedes into a Schaumburg townhouse Saturday night, police said.

The four-door car was lodged about halfway into a bedroom, Sgt. John Nebl said.

One person was sleeping inside the home on the 100 block of Quanset Court at the time of the collision, but was not injured, Nebl said.

Serhiy Sosnovskyy, 34, was charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and one count of improper lane usage, police said.

Sosnovskyy was driving west on Sagamore Drive at Stoughton Court. As he tried to turn onto north Sagamore, the car left the road and clipped the corner of a residence on Stoughton Court, Nebl said.

Sosnovskyy drove through a backyard and slammed into the townhouse about 11:20 p.m., Nebl said. The driver and another passenger suffered minor injuries, mainly cuts, Nebl said.

The damage did not displace the residents, he added.
