Warrenville police are investigating a single-vehicle accident that killed the driver of a commercial cement truck on Friday afternoon.

The truck was going north on Winfield Road, then crossed southbound traffic and left the roadway, eventually hitting a tree near Greenview Avenue south of Butterfield Road, police said. No other vehicles were involved.

It appears the driver suffered a medical emergency, police said, which led to him losing control of his vehicle.

The driver was taken to Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, where he was pronounced dead. Police had no information about his injuries but said the DuPage County Coroner's Office is planning an autopsy.

Identification of the driver is being withheld pending notification of the driver's family.

Winfield Road was closed for a while on Friday while the crash was investigated.
