Enjoy a free Concert at the Cabin
by Schaumburg Park District Communications Intern Ashley Miller
Come enjoy great music and tasty food with friends and families all while looking at beautiful scenery!
Bring a blanket and snacks and listen to a FREE concert, 5-7:30 p.m., Sept. 13 at Merkle Cabin at Spring Valley, 1111 E. Schaumburg Road.
The Spring Valley Community Concert Band will perform under the shelter on the wooded cabin grounds as evening settles in. There will be a wagon shuttle from the Nature Center parking lot to the Merkle Log Cabin.
"Not only does the music performed by the all-volunteer Spring Valley Community Band sound great, it carries on an American tradition of concert band performances, which often took place on a village square or in a local park on summer evenings," said Dave Brooks, manager of conservation services. "Concert band music was the 'pop' music for an earlier generation. While the music performed is definitely not modern 'pop' music, kids may enjoy it more than they would think."
Music starts at 6 p.m. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
