Does church need a new motto?

I read, with deep sadness, the Daily Herald's July 31 article, "Engagement leads to firing." Colin Collette, the longtime area church music director, was fired because he and his partner are soon to be married.

Perhaps the new church motto should read, "Inviting some, not all, to a new life in Christ." It seems to me that love should be lifted up and celebrated. And so I offer Colin and his partner a heartfelt mazeltov. May they enjoy many years of health and happiness as they begin their new life together.
