Disagreement OK, but silencing writers is not

Once again I must take issue with those like Mr. Dennis Johnson ("Leftist writers can't see error of ways," July 29), who would silence writers and others who do not agree politically with them. I totally disagree with Mr. Johnson's opinions and with some of the writers who appear in the Daily Herald. However, I would never suggest that they be silenced. Only in totalitarian countries are dissenting opinions silenced. Would Mr. Johnson want that?

If he has any facts at hand that disprove what a liberal opinion writer has, let him name them. Meanwhile, thank goodness, in this country people are allowed to express opinions that differ.
