A funeral is planned for this weekend for a 22-year-old Palatine native who died in a California motorcycle crash.
Alexander Mackenzie Williams, a Fremd High School graduate, was killed in a two-vehicle crash July 20 near the Del Mar Fairgrounds, located about a half-hour north of San Diego. Authorities say Williams was traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his motorcycle and swerved into oncoming traffic, according to media reports.
Williams was thrown from the motorcycle and landed under the front end of a stopped car, reports said.
Williams, who had been living in Escondido, Calif., was a member of Fremd's auto club and had a passion for working on cars, according to his obituary.
Known to family and friends as Mac, he "could frequently be seen in town driving his beloved two-tone cream-and -tan 1980 Camaro," the obituary states.
Williams also played trumpet in the school band and was a big White Sox fan.
He was recently promoted to front desk supervisor at L'Auberge Del Mar Hotel.
Visitation is scheduled from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway in Palatine. The funeral will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
