Climate change evidence overwhelming

In response to Mr. Babush's letter (June 21), he seems to be taking Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth to task for her support in reducing carbon emissions. I do not understand how anyone can deny that the Earth is not only getting warmer, but that it is getting warmer than ever and faster than ever. Add in rising sea levels, extreme drought and devastating flooding, and it's very clear that the climate is changing, and not for the better.

Finding efficient ways to generate energy through biofuels, solar power, LEDs, wind and advanced batteries is essential. Congresswoman Duckworth has long supported those types of energy innovations both in her current work as a member of Congress and past work in the military. She is committed to new and reliable energy sources and continues to promote renewable energy by visiting wind and solar companies in the 8th District.

I challenge Mr. Babush to offer real scientific proof that his position is actually true. He can't because there is none. The complete list of Scientific Organizations issuing statements on global warming is very long.

Conservative groups frequently deny the existence of climate change, issuing statements like "the debt/budget needs to be reduced to save the future for our children." Reversing climate change falls into that category. Balancing the budget will not help anyone if large blocks of the population are experiencing asthma, COPD or similar illnesses.

Other countries need to do their part, also, but the United States can lead by example. And to climate change deniers, I challenge you to funnel some of your energy into helping others understand what is happening to our Earth. Please don't waste your time and energy challenging representatives like Congresswoman Duckworth to fake debates when the evidence is overwhelming.
