Officials: Woman crashes car into E. Dundee gas station

A woman suffered only minor injuries when she crashed her SUV into a gas station off Route 72 in East Dundee Saturday night, fire officials said.

The driver was treated at the scene, the Shell gas station on the 1000 block of East Main Street, acting East Dundee Fire District Lt. Joe Schwab said.

While police are taking a look at surveillance video near the crash, authorities think the woman accidentally stepped on the gas pedal, sending most of the car - 75 percent, Schwab estimated - through the building about 8 p.m.

No one inside was injured.

With no structural damage, the gas station continued to serve customers after crews cleared the area, Schwab said.

Police did immediately respond to requests for information.
