Boomers rock Aviators in 12-2 win

Taking advantage of 9 walks and 15 hits, the Schaumburg Boomers rolled over the Rockford Aviators 12-2 Friday night at Aviator Stadium.

Three players - second baseman Jordan Dean, third baseman Mark Nelson and first baseman Brian McConkey - collected three hits apiece for the Boomers (30-23). Former St. Charles North standout Danny Jimenez (4-3), a left-handed starter, pitched 5.2 innings to earn the win, allowing 1 run on 5 hits with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts. Josh Slaats (5-2) took the loss for Rockford (23-29), giving up 7 runs on 10 hits and 4 walks in just four innings of work.
