Gurnee man charged with child porn possession

A Gurnee man has been charged with possession of child pornography, authorities say.

Benjamin D. Niskanen, 21, of the 7400 block of Korbel Drive, was arrested at his home on a warrant after an investigation by the Lake County state's attorney's office and the sheriff's office cybercrimes unit.

Multiple electronic devices were seized, and a forensic examination found "an extensive amount of images and videos" of child pornography, according to a release by the Lake County sheriff's office. Niskanen was charged with five counts of possessing child pornography.

His bond was set at $100,000, and he will appear in court again July 14.
